HELPFUL INFORMATION

Here are some questions that Casting Directors are frequently asked. We hope these answers are clear, concise and helpful. Keep scrolling to find links to businesses and organisations that we hope you find useful.

Q: Can you be my agent, will you represent me?

A: Casting Directors do not represent artists in the way that agents do, so the answer here is no. We recommend reaching out to the MEAA who have a list of reputable agents in each state.

Q: What’s the best way to share my work with Casting Directors?

A: You should sign up for at least two casting platforms, we recommend Altai and Showcast. Each platform will allow you to be searchable and seen by CD’s around the country. Make sure you keep your credits, headshots, self-tapes and reels up to date!

Q: Can you please hire me to be a reader?

A: At this stage we are not accepting submissions for readers. It’s a great experience to be a reader and the interest in being one is overwhelming!

Q: How do I get work as a background extra?

A: You should sign up for a Background Extras agency. You can contact the MEAA for a list of reputable Background Extras agencies per state.

Q: How do I get a job in casting?

A: Look for casting assistant job advertisements which are usually posted on the social pages and websites of various casting companies. You should also email your CV and a cover letter to different casting offices to let them know you’re interested should anything ever pop up. At the moment, we are not currently hiring but we are accepting EOI’s for casual casting assistant roles that may become available in the future. Click HERE for more info.
